Bill of Sale (“conditional”). Rankin Cox sells to Zach Osborn “a Negro Boy named Jacob” for nine hundred and fifteen dollars. Apparently Osborn had not yet paid fully, so Cox calls this a conditional bill of sale, and it will be void if Osborn does not pay within one year. If Osborn pays, Jacob will become his property. No further information about Jacob or his relationships, or who ended up being his owner. The document was signed June 29, 1819 and presented in Court May 1822.
