Bill of Sale. Andrew Cox sells to Zachariah Osborn “a Negro Girl by the name of Sele or Selvey of the age of thirteen years…” for $500. No further information about Sele/Selvey or her relationships, except that Cox later says he will “…warrant the aid Negro to be sound in body and mind and a Slave for life…”. Document was signed December 20, 1824 and presented in Court August 1825. See NC.ASH.E.50.1 where Zachariah Osborn buys another enslaved person from Rankin Cox.
